Junction Dysfunction in the Gut
Junction Dysfunction in the gut is called intestinal permeability in the literature and is very popularized online with the terminology of leaky gut.
Intestinal permeability is when the cells that line the gut have increased Zonulin expression (a tight junction holder) which allows for foreign proteins and pathogens to reach the blood stream, from the gut.
This post is broken into two parts:
Why Plant Toxins Are Not Your Friend (during healing)
Let's talk about lectins (phytates, salicylates, amines, etc are also bad but this is the worst offender IMO) - read more about natural dietary toxins here.
When your tight junctions are open in the gut, lectins are easily able to activate the NF-kb response by binding to toll like receptors on the innate immune system.
There are specific lectin receptors on the immune cell that trigger a cascade of pro-inflammation.
In those with a normal amount of Endotoxin Tolerance and a healthy gut (good right junction regulation), lectins help stimulate the immune system and have an anti-cancer effect
Unfortunately those who are post septic or had microsepsis, like after a virus, they have a much higher amount of Endotoxin Tolerance, so lectins are only making the dysbiosis worse.
Lectins also break down the endothelial glycocalyx as the bind to the sugar molecules involved in making up the glycocalyx.
Rebuilding the Gut-Liver Axis
Doing this process while on a carnivore or extremely low plant toxins diet is essential - in my experience with clients and my personal experience, being in carnivore during this state is very helpful.
Eating during the day and fasting at night is very helpful (or doing 16:8 intermittent fasting).
Depending on where you are, steps can overlap.
I will try to make this complex path as simple as possible by breaking it down into 4 actionable steps.
Step 1
Step 1 is testing for toxins and then removing the toxins from the liver burden:
Milk Thistle - I like KL Support (WrNETza8)
B Vitamins (per your genetics)
Step 2
Step 2 is creating hospitable environment for your gut lumen and improving motility:
Coffee enemas (Do not do a coffee enemas if you have portal hypertension as it may lead to sepsis) R
Step 3
Step 3 is breaking open biofilms, killing bad microbes and pushing health microbes to pleomorph back into their healthy state:
Allicin + ADP + Dysbiocide + FC-Cidal
During this step, there can be a lot of toxic byproducts (like microbial peptides, danger signals, and heavy metals) that are released (from pathogens fighting back or biofilms breaking up) and it’s important to incorporate Step 1 and 2 into this step as well.
Step 4
Step 4 is repopulating the gut with healthy microbes and rebuilding tight junctions
ProBiota HistaminX (Bb longum 536)
Fermented veggies
Metabolic Daily (Akkermansia muciniphila/Clostridium butyricum)
Incorporating vagus nerves exercises are very helpful during this whole process.
