What is a Myer’s Cocktail?

A Myer’s Cocktail (MC) is an intravenous blend of: R

  • magnesium

  • calcium

  • B vitamins

  • vitamin C

It has been found to be effect against: R

  • acute asthma attacks

  • migraines

  • fatigue (including chronic fatigue syndrome)

  • fibromyalgia

  • acute muscle spasm

  • upper respiratory tract infections

  • chronic sinusitis

  • seasonal allergic rhinitis

  • cardiovascular disease

I personally do Myer’s IVs with a glutathione push when I feel like my redox balance is off.

Intravenous Vitamin C as a First Standard of Care

Intravenous Vitamin C (IVVC) was one of the first line of defenses for Covid-19 back in 2020. R

IVVC has a history of use for septic shock (thus microsepsis IMO) and pneumonia (see the image below in the next section on how it works on bronchiolar cells and microcapillaries). R

IVVC can/has: R

  • improve the resistance of white blood cells to viruses

  • an antioxidant effect

  • induce interferon production in vivo

  • attenuate pro-inflammatory response (in viruses)

  • enhance epithelial barrier function (in viruses)

  • increase alveolar fluid clearance rate (in viruses)

  • prevent sepsis related coagulation abnormalities (in viruses)

While a lot of this can be achieved through supplementing Vitamin C orally or liposomally, the benefits of creating a hormetic response cannot, and that is why IVVC is important.

IVVC creates hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) via the fenton reaction in the blood, which acts as a direct free radical against pathogens, like viruses. R

Creating H2O2 in the blood requires Catalase (CAT), Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), and Glutathione Peroxidase (GPX), so it’s important to check those genes before starting a course of IVVC and asking for a glutathione push at the end, or else you can end up with excessive peroxynitrate (ONOO). R

Anyway, high doses vitamin C in of IVVC significantly reduce the demand for high-dose corticosteroids, antibiotics, and antiviral drugs, as these drugs may have the effects of immunosuppression, adrenal suppression and toxicity, complicating the course of the disease. R

What about the full blend and with Glutathione?

MC and IVVC can be pro-oxidative, so having a Glutathione (GSH) push can reduce the H2O2 oxidative load on the endothelium, thus improving redox status. R

I have found people with GPX, GST, CAT and SOD2 mutations to benefit more than others from GSH pushes.

IVVC for the Glycocalyx and Junction Dysfunction

Getting the cofactors like CAT and SOD out of the way, the full blend plus push can replenishes eNOS function via NADPH and BH4, and thus improve the function and structure of the glycocalyx. R

Also the IVVC creates an enrivornment that helps get rid of senescent (dead) immune cells from sticking to the walls of the endothelium. R

Having leaky veins causes low Vasopressin (ADH) levels, and IVVC acts a vasopressor (similar to the sartan classes of drugs). R
